I was born to Italian immigrants who came to Canada in search of a better life. After the war, while things were improving, Italy had taken a beating, so my parents made the bold decision to start anew in the “New Country.” They eventually settled in Toronto.
My father worked tirelessly at Ontario’s Food Terminal, while my mother stayed home. I’m not sure if she ever wanted to work, but my father was firmly against it. That was just how things were back then—they had a different way of thinking.
My parents had two children: first, my brother, and then, nearly four years later, me.
I was born Mike Brancaccio in the late ‘60s. I grew up during the ’70s, but it was the ’80s that truly shaped me. **I was in high school and started working at 13 years old during the ’80s**, I wasn’t aloud to work because of the government but back then, immigrants helped immigrants and it was an incredible time.
The energy, the music—it was all unforgettable. That era gave me my first taste of marketing.Let me explain:
The’80s were all about music. Teenagers like us were obsessed with imitating the adults we admired.
So boom boxes were everywhere, blasting the latest hits.
My friends and I saw an opportunity. We started organizing all-ages dance events at convention centers and wedding halls. We’d rent the halls for very little because they weren’t being used Friday nights. We’d put up posters at every school in the city, promoting the DJs and the venue. And guess what? The kids came.
We made serious money for a group of young guys, and that’s when I first realized how much I loved the hustle of marketing, But, as we all know, life catches up.
Growing up as the child of immigrants often meant making sacrifices. A lot of us didn’t go beyond high school—we had to work to help pay for the house, especially when only my dad was earning an income.
My older brother, however, decided to break the cycle. He wanted to go to college, and when he threatened to leave home to do so, my dad eventually softened his stance. But for me, it was different. I wasn’t as strong-willed at the time and couldn’t see other options, so I went straight to work.
At 26, I married my high school sweetheart (or so I thought at the time). After going through various jobs and life’s ups and downs,
I found myself drawn back to the world of marketing. In 2009, I took a leap into online marketing, and I’ve never looked back.
It has been a lot of hard work and still some to go. I’ve gonee from MLM to almost every shiner item online. I lost tens of thousands of dollars and my wife. My ex wife decided to leave my children and myself in 2013 we didn’t know what we were gonna do. So just kept going.
Anyway I kept at it. After a while I found the right system in Affiliate marketing.
It was like rediscovering the spark I had back in the ’80s, promoting those dance parties.
The digital landscape was different, but the excitement was the same—the constant creativity, strategy, and the thrill of connecting with people in new ways.
It’s been quite the journey, but here I am, still working away at it, learning and growing every step of the way.
